Description
Ben Oglivie was born in Panama in 1949, and played 16 seasons in the majors for the Red Sox (1971-1973), Tigers (1974-1977), Brewers (1978-1986), playing in 1754 games, hitting .273, with 1615 hits, 235 HRs, and 901 RBIs.He was a 3-time All-Star, and had his best season in 1980, hitting .304, with career high 118 RBIs, and league leading and career high 41 HRs, and 19 intentional walks, while making the All-Star team, and finishing 13th in MVP. In 1982, Oglivie hit .244, with 34 HRs, and 102 RBIs, and played in 1 ALDS, 1 ALCS & 1 W.S, hitting .183 in 16 games, with 2 HRs, and 3 RBIs. He later was hitting coach for the Padres (2000), and in 2012, was inducted into the Latino Baseball HOF.
